Top 10 Most Popular Anniversary Destinations
Here are the top 10 most popular anniversary destinations according to a recent survey of travel agents. Which do you think has the most Romantic Appeal?
Which Destination has the most Romantic Appeal?
These are all fabulous destinations and our personal favourite romantic getaway was a four-island tour of Hawaii for our 25th Wedding Anniversary.
Here are some of our other favourite romantic getaways:
Bali
The island of Bali is in Indonesia and it has many interesting attractions including spectacular beaches, surfing, Hindu temples, monkeys, volcanoes, motorbikes and more! Take a look at our romantic 30th Anniversary Getaway to Bali to see more photographs and stories from this incredible anniversary destination:
- Beaches and Sunsets: Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Bali.
- Temples: Visit the magnificent temples including Uluwatu Temple, perched high on a cliff.
- The Balinese People: See the wood carvers, Balinese dancers and crazy motorcyclists!
- Flora and Fauna: Learn about Kopi Luwak and the smelliest fruit in the world!
Malaysia
Malaysia is one of Southeast Asia's most intriguing destinations. Offering a mix of modern architecture in Kuala Lumpur, to traditional oriental charm in Malacca, Malaysia has something for everyone.
- Malaysian Road Trip: To KL and Back: Learn to use a blow pipe and visit the world-famous Batu Caves.
- Malaysian Road Trip: Kuala Lumpur and Melaka: Enjoy the river cruise in Melaka (Malacca) and see the rare two-headed turtle in Kuala Lumpur!
Hawaii
My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with a Romantic Getaway to Hawaii, a 12-day, 4-island tour of the Hawaiian Islands. We loved them all:
- Oahu: Waikiki, Pearl Harbour, Diamond Head, snorkeling in Hanauma Bay
- Hawaii, the Big Island: Volcanoes, Kona coffee, black sand beaches
- Maui: Golden sand beaches, Luaus, Iao Valley State Park and the Road to Hana
- Kauai: Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific
New York
There's so much to see and do: the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Broadway, Times Square and the Statue of Liberty to name just a few of the sights. We also spent a fantastic day exploring in Central Park.
If you haven't been before then check out Central Park: Size Does Matter.
And, if you have, then take the Central Park Quiz
San Francisco
San Francisco is my all-time favourite city: the Golden Gate, cable cars, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, Coit Tower, Lombard Street.
Further afield, the wine growing districts of Sonoma and Napa valley and Yosemite National Park.
And, to the south: Monterey, Pebble Beach, Carmel and Big Sur.
Paris
The City of Love - unbelievably romantic.
Enjoy the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum (home of the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo), Arc de Triumph, Montmartre, the Moulin Rouge, Versailles and so much more.
And, if you haven't seen it yet, check out Woody Allen's new movie: Midnight in Paris.Starring Owen Wilson, It does a fantastic job of capturing the romance of Paris.
Niagara Falls
If you're looking for a more modest romantic getaway, consider going to one of the honeymoon capitals of the world, Niagara Falls.
There is so much to see and do, including the world-famous Niagara Falls which are best viewed by boat. Feel the spray and hear the roar as millions of gallons of water cascade over the falls in front of you!
Experience the power of the Niagara River as the waters complete their journey through the Great Lakes, rushing from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario and on towards the sea some 1,200 miles eastward.
Imagine what it must have been like to watch the Niagara Falls Tightrope Walkers.
Then enjoy the other attractions such as the Skylon Tower, Clifton Hill and the Casino.
Fishing Vacation On Lake Of The Woods, Canada
We spent what could have been a romantic getaway for two at Totem Resorts in Lake of the Woods, Canada on a 5-day, all-inclusive fishing vacation. But, with low temperatures, strong winds and large waves, spending 5 days on a small fishing boat surrounded by stinky fish wasn't quite as romantic as we hoped.
Having said that we had a fantastic time, caught lots of fish, saw lots of wildlife, and enjoyed some wonderful meals. Check out our Lake of the Woods Fishing Report for all the details.
Bon Voyage!
